we're under time constraints, so we will definitely have a set number of balls for the 14 man match.

the 22 man match will in all likelihood be a regular one day.

Well - 11 overs per player may be a bit much then. If we need to keep it down to the same as a one-day then 7 overs should do it, with a bit to spare.

I'm sure we can work it out in the next week.

I need to play. Quite literally can't wait till next Saturday - I may just piss myself.

Oh for fucks sake.

I played a session in the nets yesterday afternoon, and I pulled my back. some strong drugs and heat have eased it somewhat; and I hold thumbs it will be perfect by Saturday - but it might not be.

That said, the impact is as follows:
1. I definiteately won't be bowling any of my medium pace inswingers.
2. I might not be able to bowl at all - which will really piss me off
3. I may have to retire from batting early
4. I will be there! Even if only to umpire. But I will be there. Repeat - will be there.

Now, if only I knew how to get there ...

As I hinted at earlier - I can also fill a few places should the need arise. I can think of three or four who might be interested in playing.

So if we get the venue, and if we need players ... I have a few willing to play.

If that is so we need a random team picker. I suggest we group all the players together by type. And split them in two randomly - so each team has at least the same number of players who consider themselves batsmen, bowlers and all-rounders.

Captaincy could also be a criteria for splitting the groups - an experienced player on both sides.

Oh this is going to be fun. I mean I'm pretty kak at everything - but I just so love the game. And since my back is tender I may only be able to bowl a few overs of lollipop offies, or just bat it out. But playing, on a pitch, against a full team. I'm getting all misty eyed.

This just in:

Doc says I should be fine by Saturday. I have full bowling range of motion on my right side, and as long as it doesn't go through with extreme pace - it only hurts a little bit.

Bat is regripped and ready to be broken. It is a touch small (being a H, not a SH - and bought some years ago - but I'm just that good it doesn't matter. [Read I'm so kak I need a fucking ironing board to connect.]

And Matt is goin to bowl a yorkie to me - which could hurt because those little fucking yapping dogs nip at your heels after being flung through the air. Ugly shits.

Ok Oddvillians, we need some help here... It seems our reliable link to a cricket pitch has proved to be alot less reliable than we first imagined.

So, if anyone knows where we can get hold of a pitch let me know. Or just organise it... Otherwise, i'm sorry to say, there will be no outdoor cricket this saturday.

I've tried getting hold of some schools, but they've all shut down now.

I'm trying to get one sorted now.

The pitch looks good - a bit green, but good; and the outfield isn't too bad. But, since it's a primary school - the field is small (a solidly connected forward defensive might get 4) so we should be prepared to chase a large total. Also, no wickets - so we'll need to get some stumps.

The school grounds were a bit of a mess last weekend (school's out, and so the staff party - I think) but the field looked dandy. Also a thatched area exists near the nets which should do us for lunch.

Still getting confirmation - but it should be good. Hopefully.

that<b>[I AM TOO STUPID TO USE AN APOSTROPHE]</b>s a good idea - only problemis that we are in high cricket season. The Saturday Clubs play, and there are about 7 leagues, each with quite a number of clubs. So the full fields may all be booked.

Defineately worth a shot.

My contact is getting in touch with his buddy to see if it will be possible to use the pitch. I don't want to push too hard - so it's a wait and see.

Got it!

Rosebank Primary. The ground keeper will roll the pitch for us tomorrow, and put stumps in.

He'll be there to open up from 10am on Saturday.

I'm going to be offline tomorrow for most of the day. Will probably only be able to check in the evening.

Let's keep this dream alive.

And how many players do we have? If we are short I have a few in mind. Need to know prior to 10.30 in the am tomorrow (friday).

that's great news paelleon - but now we've got a huge problem with numbers.

me and steve are cool, and i think my brother cliff is ok too, except he's messed up his knee so

. i don't know how to get hold of shivi, so i've pm'd him to ask if he's still on.

we've got about 4 or 5 guys who work on saturdays and couldn't cancel work at this late notice, so they can only come after 1pm, which is a bit useless.

so i guess what i'm saying is that there is a possibility of there only being 3 of us there tomorrow.

i've sent you a pm, paelleon. i hope you read this today sometime.
